DAY 1, November 02, 2019 | Tel Aviv

Welcome to Israel!

Upon arrival at Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV), your Ground Operator will assist you through baggage claim and customs, and then escort you to your guide and driver.

Enjoy a drive to the Old Port City of Jaffa, the oldest seaport in the world and home to a vibrant multi-ethnic community of Muslims, Christians, and Jews. You will have a chance to experience the first Jewish city of the modern era, established in 1909.

Afterwards, you'll arrive at your hotel in Tel Aviv for check-in and some well-deserved rest.

A welcome dinner will be held that evening at a local restaurant.

DAY 2, November 03, 2019 | Tel Aviv

Enjoy a lovely Israeli breakfast at the hotel.

Start the day with a visit to the State of Mind Innovation Center at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. Learn about cutting-edge developments by Israeli start-ups in fields such as science, medicine, security, space, and more.

Stroll along Rothschild Boulevard, the beating heart of Tel Aviv, and view The White City's most prominent collection of Bauhaus (International Style) buildings. Built during the 1930's and the 1940's, this functional architecture not only created well-designed structures but also a cohesive urban landscape that is unparalleled in the world.

Next, visit Israel's Independence Hall. We will take a step back in time as we listen to David Ben Gurion's moving Declaration of Independence, which ended 2,000 years of Jewish yearning to return to the land of Israel.

As the day winds down, tour Carmel Market and enjoy a fascinating variety of culinary riches, colorful spices, and intriguing characters in the main market of Tel Aviv, where the flavors and scents of the old town combine with the young bustling atmosphere of the city's central marketplace.

DAY 3, November 04, 2019 | Jerusalem
Jerusalem

Depart Tel Aviv and ascend the Judean Mountains. Upon arriving in Jerusalem, stop at the Mt. of Olives for a panoramic view of Jerusalem. Overlooking the Old City, the Mount of Olives is an important site in both the Jewish and Christian traditions.

Descend via the Palm Sunday Walk to visit the Garden of Gethsemane. The Garden's ancient olive trees are believed to date back to the times of Christ.

Walk through the Old City and visit some of its famous sites, including the Western Wall and the Cardo, an ancient commercial street where you can still shop today.

Lunch is in the Jewish Quarter.

After lunch, visit the Room of the Last Supper at Mt. Zion. Our next stop will be a rooftop tour of the Old City neighborhoods for a behind-the-scenes look at the various communities living alongside each other in this ancient walled city.

Walk through the Arab Bazaar and experience traditional Middle Eastern life, with its rich colors, flavors, and smells.

Walk along part of the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. According to traditions dating back to at least the 4th century, the church is the home of the two holiest sites in Christianity: the site where Jesus of Nazareth was crucified, known as "Calvary" or "Golgotha," and Jesus's empty tomb, where he is said to have been buried and resurrected.

We will dine together with a family at their home.

DAY 4, November 05, 2019 | Jerusalem - Bethlehem
Jerusalem - Bethlehem

Visit Yad Vashem, considered to be the world's primary Holocaust memorial and museum. Take a tour of the new Holocaust History Museum, which occupies over 4,200 square meters, mainly underground. Visit the moving exhibit at the Children's Pavilion, commemorating the death of over 1.5 million Jewish children in the Holocaust.

Tour of the Israel Museum. There we will see the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibition, and view the famous Model of Jerusalem, depicting the city as it was in the 2nd Temple period.

Visit to Bethlehem. See the Church of the Nativity and the remains of ancient Bethlehem (beneath the Greek Monastery), from the times of Christ. Lunch In Bethlehem.

Drive to the Yvel Design Center - a unique combination of original Israeli creativity and the social impact of philanthropic investment. The tour includes a visit to the Megemeria School of Jewelry & Art; established in 2010 by Yvel founders, Isaac and Orna Levy, the school offers Ethiopian immigrants professional training at no cost, a monthly stipend & assistance in finding employment in the industry.

Night tour at Machne Yehuda Market - After the sun sets on Jerusalem, the Machne Yehuda shop keepers and vendors call it a day, giving way to the market's spectacular nightlife. Graffiti artwork suddenly reveals itself, along with incredible murals depicting some of Jerusalem's most influential past and present day personas.

DAY 5, November 06, 2019 | The Dead Sea
The Dead Sea

After and early breakfast, we will depart to the Dead Sea area. Traveling east though the Judean Desert we will arrive at the shores of the Dead Sea and descend to the lowest land point on earth at 1388 feet (423m) below sea level.

Stop at Qumran, home of the Dead Sea Scrolls which were first discovered in the caves in 1947 by a Bedouin shepard who looked for a lost goat. The scrolls revealed to be the oldest biblical Hebrew scriptures ever found, shedding light on practices and beliefs of ancient Judaism, during the time of Christian origins.

Drive to the legendary mountaintop plateau of Masada - the last stronghold of the Jewish Zealots in their struggle against the Romans in 73CE - overlooking the Dead Sea. Ascending by cable car to the ancient fortress, we shall explore the site, with its synagogue and bathhouse.

Lunch and swim at the Herods hotel on the beach. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon, cover yourself in mineral-rich mud and float in the buoyant waters.

Optional - take an exciting Helicopter Ride above the Judean Desert and Jerusalem.

Land in Jerusalem and return to the hotel.

In the evening, take in the Sound and Light Show at the Tower of David-a creative depiction of the history of the city of Jerusalem projected onto the ancient stones.

Dinner at leisure in one of the many restaurants and cafes at Mamilla mall.

DAY 6, November 07, 2019 | Israeli Coastline
Israeli Coastline

After breakfast, we leave Jerusalem and head north.

Vista the ancient city of Caesarea, built by Herod the Great and once the administrative center of the Roman Empire for the Province of Judaea. The city and its archeological wonders are a testament to its significance throughout the ages. The ancient port, the Roman hippodrome and amphitheater and the impressive palace are among the many historical treasures in this fascinating ancient city.

Stop at Haifa, the largest harbor city of Israel, for a breathtaking panoramic view of Haifa Bay and of the beautiful Bahaâi Gardens with its impressive temple.

Continue to the ancient crusader port city of Akko, the fascinating UNESCO heritage site, with new excavations revealing what life was like 1000 years ago. Visit the Crusader Halls and follow the underground tunnels. See the port and fortifications that enabled the inhabitants of the town to resist invasion by Napoleon Bonaparte. Spend time walking through the Arab Bazaar, reliving a Middle Eastern shopping experience.

DAY 7, November 08, 2019 | Sea of Galilee
Sea of Galilee

Drive to the Sea of Galilee and take a boat ride on the calm waters.

Visit the 2,000 years old boat at the “Ancient Boat Museum" located in Kibbutz Ginosar. Learn to fascinating story of how it was found and preserved.

Continue to Mount of Beatitudes where Jesus gave his famous Sermon on the Mount. North of the Sea of Galilee, atop the Beatitudes Mount, lays a beautiful church where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the northern part of Sea of Galilee.

Visit Capernaum; a 2nd century synagogue was discovered which threw light on the life of the community of that era. According to the Christian tradition, Jesus served here as a local rabbi and performed miracles. The traditional house of Saint Peter is also located here.

Take an exciting 4x4 jeep ride tour of the Golan Heights, enjoying its physical beauty with its scenic hills, and learn the strategic importance and history of the land.

Lunch at the wine cellar of the Golan Heights winery, including wine tasting.

Finish the day at the mystical city of Tzfat, the birthplace of the ancient Jewish mystical text, the Kabbalah. Stroll through the narrow, winding alleys. Peek inside some of the beautiful synagogues. Browse through workshops and galleries in the flourishing artists' quarter.

DAY 8, November 09, 2019 | Valley of Jordan
Valley of Jordan

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive through the Jordan Valley to Beit She’an.

Explore the ancient remains of Beit Shean, founded some six millennia ago, mentioned in Scripture in the tragedy of King Saul’s defeat on nearby Mount Gilboa. Some 2,300 years ago it was rebuilt as a Hellenistic city. It rose to greatness under the Romans and the Byzantines but was felled by an earthquake in 749 CE, leaving behind splendid colonnaded streets, a bathhouse, theater and shrines, reconstructed in the shadow of the biblical tell.

Drive to the Sheikh Hussain Bridge and cross over into Jordan.

DAY 9, November 10, 2019 | Madaba - Mt. Nebo
Madaba - Mt. Nebo

After breakfast, check out from the hotel.

Depart to the Christian city of Madaba “the City of Mosaics” which has the oldest known mosaic map of the Holy Land. We will visit St Georges Church and mosaic maps of Madaba.

Enjoy Traditional Lunch @ Haret Jadona in Madaba.

Then off to view the Jordan Valley from the famous Mount Nebo. On the way you will also have the chance to visit The Church of the Holy Martyrs Lot and Procopius, where you can see once of the most well-preserved mosaics in the area dated back 6th century A.D.

On this day we will also visit the King Academy Campus. Tour the campus, meet with the students and faculty on the campus in Madaba.

DAY 10, November 11, 2019 | Petra

Enter the Rose City of Petra through the Siq, a narrow passage through the mountains that has inspired people for centuries. Up to the Treasury which suddenly appears at the end of the gorge, leaving visitors breath taken by its' size, color and beauty. Continue into the heart of this ancient city carved into the mountains, passing hundreds of tombs and monuments and a spectacular Amphitheatre, which once held 3,000 spectators.

After your tour, we will enjoy lunch and then depart to the QAA for final departure.

* Please ensure it is a late departure from QAA as we have a full day. It might be ideal to spend an extra night in Amman.

Drive to Amman International Airport for your departure flight back home.

Merrill Eisenhower Atwater

Merrill Eisenhower Atwater joined People to People International as the Chief Executive Officer in January 2018. Before joining People to People International, he served as the Director of Aviation at Kansas Department of Transportation. Mr. Atwater joined Kansas Department of Transportation from Housby where he served as National Sales Director. Prior to that he was with Fox Energy Corp. of Kansas City, MO serving as President of New Business Development. He has spoken both at the national and international level on various topics, including Business Development, Energy, and Transportation.

He holds a Bachelor's of Science in History and Interpersonal Communications from Missouri Western State University and in 2015 he received his Master's in Business Administration from Baker University. Mr. Atwater has previously been a member of several boards including: The Kansas Department of Transportation’s Executive Staff, NASAO Board of Directors, the Kansas Freight Advisory Committee, Transportation Research Board’s Standing Committee on Aviation System Planning, Standing Committee on Airfield and Airspace Capacity and Delay, Standing Committee on Intergovernmental Relations in Aviation, and a sub-committee on UAS Integration into the national air space. He currently sits on the board for the Dean’s Council of Kansas State University (Salina).

Mr. Atwater has received numerous awards and recognitions. He was recognized for the 2017 Aviation Impact Award from the FAA and was awarded National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO’s) Center for Aviation Research and Education Award. In 2016, he was selected to the 40 under 40 Most Influential and Accomplished Leaders of Business. He is married to Shonda Atwater and they have two children.
